CCCJC endorses the Mayor's Proposal for the IPA 3/19/09
The Mayor's proposal for an IPA will go before the city council for a vote on Tuesday, March 24.
CCCJC representatives met with her and with her advisors, attended community meetings, and negotiated CCJC’S proposal, a great deal of which is incorporated into the final version.
CCCJC applauds the open way in which she has solicited input from all parties involved in this issue, researched what is working in other cities, and sought expert help in pulling it all together. So it reflects the desires of other interested parties as well, and not all of what we had envisioned.
BUT IT IS A GOOD DOCUMENT THAT CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR CITY AT THIS TIME, AND on Thursday, March 19, CCCJC ENDORSED THE MAYOR’S PROPOSAL.
CCCJC Thanks you for the support you have given with letters to "The Bee" and personal contacts to city council members.
HOWEVER IT IS NOT A DONE DEAL, AND IF IT DOES NOT PASS THIS TIME IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO BUILD THE MOMENTUM AND SUPPORT THAT WE NOW HAVE GOING FOR US.
Therefore we are asking our supporters who have not yet done so to contact any and all council members and invite all their friends and relations and neighbors to do the same. Tell them to vote for an IPA for Fresno now; Contact any groups which you belong to and tell them to tell the city council members .
NO DELAYING TACTICS.
NO MORE PUTTING IT OFF
NO FALSE PROMISES TO PUT IT ON THE BALLOT.
THANK YOU AGAIN
